Lesson 14: Rounding numbers to the nearest hundred

Students will continue practicng the number line strategy to confidently round numbers to the nearest 100, reinforcing their understanding through a visual approach. They will reinforce their knowledge by creating random numbers to round to 100 .

Lesson 12: Rounding numbers to the nearest ten

Students will be introduced to the concept of rounding and begin rounding to the nearest 10 using a number line strategy. They will use their knowledge to create random numbers and round them to the nearest 10.

Lesson 10: Introduction to regrouping

Through visuals, students will explore how each place value column is 10x greater than the last and use this knowledge to regroup amounts. Students will create place value block sculptures and regroup the amounts used. (If you do not have place value blocks, there is a picture alternative.)

Lesson 7: Writing numbers in written form

This lesson explores how to correctly read and write large numbers using a ‘hotel’ strategy. Students will create random numbers and use the hotel strategy to help them to read and write the numbers.

Lesson 6: Create and compare numbers

Students will apply their comparing and ordering skills to play an engaging game, called Super-Duper Teeny-Weeny, which challenges them to build and compare numbers.
