Lesson 2: Let’s use skip counting to multiply

Students will use skip counting as a strategy to solve multiplication problems by counting forward in equal intervals. This approach helps them see multiplication as repeated addition and builds their number sense. They will practice this skill by playing a game called Island Capture.

Lesson 1: Let’s explore equal groups

This lesson introduces the concept of groups and explores the connection to multiplication and addition number sentences through imagery. Students will find groups and connect them to number sentences using ‘I Spy’ pictures.

Lesson 14: Let’s show what we know!

Students will show their knowledge of all the key ideas from this subtraction unit. Please note, you can either complete an onscreen assessment or a printed version of the assessment.

Lesson 13: Let’s apply subtraction strategies to problem-solve

Students will consolidate and apply a range of addition and subtraction strategies to problem-solve, such as counting on, bridging down to ten, jump strategy, split strategy and column method. They will utilise these strategies in a critical-thinking activity that involves finding the ages of members of an animal family.

Lesson 10: Let’s subtract up to 3-digit numbers

Students will apply column method to subtract, strengthening their ability to solve problems with greater accuracy and efficiency. They will utilise their skills to play a subtraction bingo game.

Lesson 9: Let’s use column method to subtract

Students will explore how to use column method to subtract. They will gain a conceptual understanding on how to regroup from larger place values through concrete and pictorial examples. They will use their knowledge to find the amount of treasure each pirate ship has lost.
