Students will explore the connection between centimeters and meters using tape diagrams. They will apply their knowledge to solve an animal lineup.

Lesson 4: Let’s add and subtract length

Students will explore how to add and subtract length in order to line up the monsters according to height.

Lesson 5: Let’s calculate perimeter

Students will explore how to find the perimeter of shapes. They will use their knowledge to calculate the perimeter of different race tracks.

Lesson 6: Let’s create shapes with specific perimeters

Students will apply their knowledge of perimeters to create shapes that have certain perimeters. They will do this through an activity that involves designing moats for castles.

Lesson 7: Let’s explore mass

Students will estimate, read and record mass in this lesson.

Lesson 8: Let’s read scales and measure liquid volume

Students will read measuring cylinders and explore capacity/volume.

Lesson 9: Let’s add and subtract liquid amounts

Students will continue to explore capacity/volume by adding and subtracting milliliters whilst playing a game called ‘Fill Your Bucket’.

Lesson 10: Let’s show what we know!

Students will show their knowledge of all the key ideas from this measurement unit. Please note, you can either complete an onscreen assessment or a printed version of the assessment.
