Step 3: Start lesson 1 and have a look around

Students will continue to measure angles and learn how to use angle measurements to find unknown angles without measuring. They will solve angle measurement challenge cards.

Students will identify triangles, describe their properties and measure their angles.

Students will identify properties of different quadrilaterals and explore interior angles.

Students will apply their angle knowledge to identify missing angles in triangles and quadrilaterals in a shape mural.

Students will explore circumference, diameter and radius and use string to measure parts of a circle.

Students will draw and construct cuboids using A4 paper.

Students will work in groups to design and build different cuboids from nets they have created. This lesson is a hands-on, creative, open inquiry.

Students will locate and plot coordinates on a grid and go on a ‘treasure hunt’.

Students will plot coordinates to make 2D ‘space friend’ shapes.

Students will translate shapes on a grid to hide ancient artefacts.

Students will reflect shapes across vertical and horizontal mirror lines.

Students will design a map and describe translations to visit sites on a map.

This is a summative assessment that covers the key objectives from this shape and space unit.
