Step 3: Start lesson 1 and have a look around
Students will use turns and compass directions to identify a code. They will explore quarter, half, three-quarter and full turns using north, east, south and west to direct the turns. They will use turns and compass directions to unlock treasure codes.
Students will explore acute, obtuse, right and straight angles in relation to their sizes. They will order and match angles when playing a game called Angle Snaps.
Students will identify and explore the properties of vertical, horizontal, perpendicular, intersecting and parallel lines. Students will go on a line hunt to identify different line types.
Students will draw, investigate and identify the properties of different 2D shapes.
Students will identify, explore and sort the properties of equilateral, isosceles, scalene and right-angle triangles.
Students will identify properties of different quadrilaterals and create their own models.
Students will create 2D shapes using dot boards and describe their properties.
Students will use coordinates to locate different pieces of treasure on a grid.
Students will apply their coordinate knowledge to translating shapes on a grid. They will complete an activity that involves using clues to hide treasure.
