Lesson 9: Exploring mass

Students will read mass measurement scales and convert kilograms/grams and pounds/ounces using multiplication and division. They will explore mass by weighing objects in their classroom.
Lesson 8: Converting between US liquid volume measurements

Students will convert between gallons, quarts, pints, cups and fluid ounces by playing the Scrub-A-Dub-Dub game.
Lesson 7: Exploring US liquid volume measurements

This lesson explores US liquid volume measurements, including gallons, quarts, pints, cups, and fluid ounces. Students will create a visual representation that shows the connection between the liquid volume measurements.
Lesson 6: Identifying scale and measuring liquid volume in metric units

Students will read measuring cylinders and explore capacity/volume. They will convert between millilitres and litres using division and multiplication. They will take part in a range of different pour challenges.
Lesson 5: Calculating the area of compound shapes

Students will explore the formula for finding the area of rectangles and apply it to creating dance floors with specific areas.
Lesson 4: Calculating perimeter of compound shapes

Students will use their knowledge of the formula for finding the perimeter of 2D shapes to calculate the perimeter of compound shapes. They will use their knowledge to find the perimeter of insect enclosures.
Lesson 3: Converting between mm, cm, m and km

Students will convert between millimetres, centimetres, meters and kilometres. They will find the size of interesting animals with different units of measurement.
Lesson 1: Exploring place value

Students will recap place value columns and the amount they represent. They will explore the place value system further through a fun game called Place Value Bananza.
Lesson 2: Exploring and converting US standard units of measurement

Students will explore and identify common uses for each unit of measurement. They will convert US standard units of measurement whilst playing the Conversion Challenge game.
Lesson 1: Identifying units of measurement

This provocation can be used as a pre-assessment. Students will explore different units of measurement and identify types of measurements in real-life situations.
