Lesson 10: Let’s solve measurement word problems
Students will use their problem-solving skills to solve word problems that connect to length/distance, liquid volume and mass.
Lesson 9: Let’s explore mass
Students will read mass measurement scales and convert kilograms to grams and vice versa using multiplication and division. They will explore mass by weighing objects in their classroom.
Lesson 8: Let’s explore capacity/volume
Students will read measuring cylinders and explore capacity/volume. They will convert between milliliters and liters using division and multiplication. Students will explore the capacity/volume of containers in your classroom using measuring cylinders.
Lesson 7: Let’s calculate the area of compound shapes
Students will use their knowledge of the formula for finding the area of rectangles to calculate the area of compound shapes.
Lesson 6: Let’s calculate the area of rectangles
Students will explore the formula for finding the area of rectangles and apply it to creating dance floors with specific areas.
Lesson 5: Let’s calculating perimeter using compound shapes
Students will find the perimeter of compound shapes with missing lengths. They will use their knowledge to calculate the perimeter of the animals’ paddocks.
Lesson 4: Let’s calculate perimeter
Students will explore finding the perimeter of 2D shapes, including compound shapes. They will calculate the perimeter of different enclosures for mythical creatures.
Lesson 3: Let’s convert units of length
Students will convert between millimeters, centimeters, meters and kilometers. They will find the size of interesting animals with different units of measurement.
Lesson 2: Let’s convert centimeters and millimeters
Students will measure and convert between units of measurement of length using multiplication and division. They will practice this by going on a measurement treasure hunt.
