Lesson 15: Measurement Assessment

This is a summative assessment that covers the key objectives from this measurement unit.
Lesson 14: Metric Olympics!

Students will recap and apply the different units of measurement that they have explored during this unit. They will do this by ‘competing’ in the Metric Olympics, which is a fun series of measurement challenges.
Lesson 13: Adding and subtracting millilitres

Students will continue to explore capacity/volume by adding and subtracting millilitres whilst playing a game called ‘Fill Your Bucket’.
Lesson 12: Introduction to capacity/volume

Students will make estimations, read measuring cylinders and explore capacity/volume.
Lesson 11: Adding mass

Students will use their problem-solving skills to add kilograms and grams to pack a suitcase.
Lesson 10: Introduction to mass

Students will estimate, measure and record mass in this fun, hands-on lesson.
Lesson 9: Using area to create rectangles

Students will use their knowledge of area to create designs that match specific areas for clients.
Lesson 8: Calculating the area of rectangles

Students will explore the formula for finding the area of rectangles and apply it to creating dance floors with specific areas.
Lesson 7: Creating shapes with specific perimeters

Students will apply their knowledge of perimeters to create shapes to meet certain perimeters. They will do this through an activity that involves designing moats for castles.
Lesson 6: Introduction to calculating perimeter

Students will explore how to find the perimeter of shapes. They will use their knowledge to calculate the perimeter of different race tracks.
