Lesson 3: Let’s compare numbers

Students will apply their comparing-number skills to compare the populations of different fictional countries using their place value knowledge.
Lesson 2: Let’s show the value of each digit

In this lesson, students will explore the value of each place value column and expand numbers to identify the true value of each digit.
Lesson 1: Let’s explore place value

In this lesson, students will recap odd and even numbers and explore the value of each digit (up to thousands) in the place value system. They will play a game called Gotcha.
Lesson 17: Let’s show what we know!

Students will show their knowledge of all the key ideas from this multiplication unit. Please note, you can either complete an onscreen assessment or a printed version of the assessment.
Lesson 16: Let’s solve 2-digit multiplication problems

Students will continue to use place value dots/counters to multiply 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. Students will create and solve 2-digit x 1-digit number sentences that match each challenge.
Lesson 15: Let’s multiply 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers

This lesson focuses on using place value dots/counters to multiply 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. This strategy helps students visualise multiplication as repeated addition. Students will help animals calculate their beach spending totals.
Lesson 14: Let’s apply multiplication to calculate area

Students will apply and consolidate the multiplication skills, strategies and knowledge gained in this unit to design an epic room. They will apply multiplication to area. Please note, area will also be explored in more detail in our measurement unit.
Lesson 13: Let’s solve multiplication word problems

Students will apply their multiplication knowledge and the REPS strategy to solve word problems and crack a code to solve a joke
Lesson 12: Let’s multiply by 8

Students will explore strategies to effectively multiply by 8, such as doubling one factor 3 times or doubling the product of multiplying by 4. Students will practice multiplying by 8 by finding a pathway to a golden egg.
Lesson 11: Let’s multiply by 4

Students will explore strategies for multiplying by 4, such as using the ‘double, doubles’ method, where they double a number and then double it again. They will practice this technique whilst solving a mystery where they try to catch the ‘Double Double Trouble Bandits’.
