Lesson 8: Let’s explore and order decimals

Students will explore the value of tenths and hundredths and their connections. They will also order decimal numbers and write them in words. Students will use their knowledge to put the animals’ race results in order.
Lesson 7: Let’s applying rounding skills

Students will continue to develop their rounding skills. They will round numbers to the nearest ten, hundred and thousand. They will play a fun game called Risky Rounding
Lesson 10: Let’s use rounding to problem-solve

Students will use rounding, column addition and their problem-solving skills to calculate coin totals and unlock the pirate treasure chests.
Lesson 6: Let’s round numbers: nearest 10, 100 and 1,000

Students will use a number line to round numbers to the nearest 10, the nearest 100 and the nearest 1,000.
Lesson 5: Let’s write numbers in written form

Students will practice writing large numbers in written form correctly. They will also learn when to use hyphens/commas using the ‘hotel’ technique for support.
Lesson 4: Let’s compare numbers

Students will build on our place value knowledge by comparing large numbers. They will also learn how to use the <> symbols to write number statements about numbers. Students will play a game called Risk It For The Biscuit.
Lesson 3: Let’s apply expanded form

Students will apply their expanding number skills from the previous lesson whilst playing Place Value Pointers, a fun number and points game.
Lesson 2: Let’s expand numbers

Students will explore the value of digits by expanding large numbers and creating expanded form creatures.
Lesson 9: Let’s explore column method with regrouping

Students will recap the connection between each place value column and conceptually explore regrouping with visuals. They will use this knowledge to use column addition with regrouping and apply the strategy to visit a fun fair and choose rides.
Lesson 1: Let’s make place value connections

Students will recap place value columns and the amount they represent. They will explore and recap the place value system through a fun game called Place Value Bananza.
